During the Great Depression, President Franklin D. Roosevelt stepped in and took charge of a struggling real estate market. By implementing the National Housing Act of 1934 (90 years ago this month!) and the Wagner-Steagall Housing Act in 1937, he made housing and home mortgages more affordable, thereby protecting and preserving homeownership.
